When the document takes effect next week, the special court – the Kosovo Specialist Chambers – may start operation, and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office, headed by David Schwendiman, will be able to raise the first indictments against suspects.

In late April, the constitutional court referred the Rules of Procedure and Evidence to the Specialist Chamber for review to ensure compliance with Chapter 20 of Kosovo’s constitution.

The decision was announced by Ann Power-Forde, president of the Specialist Chamber of the Constitutional Court.
